Back then it was unusual to have a tree shipped all the way from California, but for the Monti family fig collecting (and sharing) was a family tradition. Over the years the Montis noted the reliable performance of this tree, naming it as one of the most prized trees in their collection. That led Lou to bestow it with a mashup of his fathers name CARlo and Monti.
